Project

Washtenaw County Parks & Recreation (WCPARC) engaged with The Collaborative to develop a near and long term master plan of their park system. The plan’s focus was determining future amenities and recreational opportunities to enhance the user experience. After the master plan was in place, WCPARC set their sites on the North Park development including a Multi-Purpose Building and Farmhouse Restoration.

  • Multi-Purpose Building - The new Multi-Purpose building supports the Park System, as well as the Michigan Folk School. Taking cues from the surrounding nature, the new facility provides 3 classrooms, a teaching kitchen and a outdoor learning area. Patrons visiting the park can also access the restroom facilities and pathways.
  • Border-to-Border Trail - Design development for wayfinding and gathering plazas along the B2B Trail to improve usability for residents and visitors.
  • Farmhouse Adaptive Reuse - In conjunction with the Multi-Purpose building, the WCPARC embarked on rehabilitating the 1910’s Farmhouse structure. The vision for the original Farmhouse is to transform the important, historic structure into a community center.
